We advocate for the needy school leavers and dropouts who would like to continue with their studies but don’t have school fees and enhance sustainable livelihoods in our communities through various projects.
BALAWOOLI JUNIOR SCHOOL
This is the school we started up to advocate for the vulnerable children in Balawooli to enable them acquire and build up their future. Some of these children are total orphans and others are half orphans so we do this enable them realize a reason for their living and dreams.
Our school is based on total voluntary work whereby all our stuff is comfortably and willingly volunteering to these young souls.
JEHOVAH JIREH CHURCH
This is targeting all the vulnerable school leavers, dropouts and the community at large. Our pastor being one of the school leavers in this community, this is basically to restore the lost souls and also induce hope in their lives, enable them understand and take Christ Jesus as their personal savior and lord. For only Christ Jesus can enable them to achieve their goals in life and also be inspirational to other people in the community.
3. SOAP MAKING
MEIA Charity we not only teach our children class work but also give them practical skills like soap making which enables them to get some side income especially in their holidays to prevent them from being idle whereby this is clearly known that an idle mind is the devils workshop. This has also benefitted the community in that the vulnerable children have brought services nearer to them at cheaper cost hence improving their livelihoods.
4. CANDLE MAKING
MEIA Charity has also gone an extra mile to teach the vulnerable children and the community how to make candles to provide for the light and small incomes that can facilitate their needs and this has supported them in many ways. Children can use these candles to study at night and improve their academic excellence aiming for higher grades to also compete with other highly performing schools in the country.
Candles have also helped the community by lighting up their grass thatched houses from the fire sticks previously used that could light up high and burn down their houses. This has given moral to the vulnerable children and sense of belonging to the community due to the help and effort they have rendered to the community however small it is.
5. CATTLE REARING
The school has got a cow the is providing milk which is reach in proteins to our children that has improved their healthy since they take milk every day. The school also aims at getting more cows to provide enough milk to all of the children since one cow can only cater for 10 pupils and we dilute it to enable it feed 30 children and this is for the kindergarten only. Our vision is to provide for all the children in the school and also bring in the infants who have been abandoned or lost their parents at birth. This will help us know that we have done something to save and serve the community by relieving them from,s the burden of needy children since they didn’t have where and how to take care of them.
As a well sensitized group of MEIA Charity we have gone further to sensitize the community on different issues more so the gender based violence in the community. The gender based violence has mainly affected girls and women in these communities since they have been denied their rights as in the right to education, protection from early marriages and abortion due to unwanted pregnancy, a right to express themselves and worst of all female genital mutilation in cultures like the Sabin who have deprived girls from their nature of creation hence lowering their self-esteem.
MEIA charity has helped the community to understand the rights both girls and boys must have to save them from all kinds of abuses on both genders. It has also helped parents realize the value of educating the girl child and protecting them from the harsh and brutal acts upon their lives, this has given girls the confidence to face tomorrow without fear but with confidence, determination and thirst to be of help to the community in the future.
MEIA charity is looking forward to opening up poultry farm that will provide eggs and meat to the children to improve their diet which will help in dealing with malnutrilised diseases like marasmus. This will be of greater achievements for the organization and the community in providing and meeting the demands of our children the future responsible citizens.
If opened on a large scale, this will provide income since we shall have enough to feed the children and also sale the remaining to meet the needs of our children like books, sanitary pads, pens, pencils and other scholastic materials
The organization looks forward to growing its only food to feed the vulnerable children and provide them with enough food to cub the hunger issues where our children end up malnutrilised due to lack of enough food. No work can be done well on an empty stomach so with our own food being grown in plenty like maize, cassava, potatoes and vegetables, cases of hunger will be history and this will give our children a healthy mind and body.
